I don’t have big purpose. Most important purpose is to do what I am supposed to do. – shape of the SHRINE is always the the same, only people receive identity- craftsmanship – there is no visible , have to give to next generation. So shrine project every ____ years. Shrine is half japanses and half Chinese/ Korean . Wehereas traditional house is Japanese. Traditional house is structure for human living. Shrine is not practical. Traditional hosue I respect – farmers life – farmers house. I can trust. Religion is more political for me. I am interested in more practical things. For example farmer has to get vegetables from the market so he needs a basket. Basket is more practical .
Inspired by great grandfathers poems. I did not know I wanted to become a carpenter till I saw the natural beam at my grandfathers house whe I was seven years of age. – everything is connected- everythings has purpose? ( I did not get this?) –
Essence of Takami kawai – I always wanted to get prize. Such prize can satisfy myself. At the end it is to act to only satifsfy yourself – only for me. Suikoushya is 70 percent for myself and 30 percent for students. For example – i teach you skill – I can see you make things – making others make things gives me happiness and self confidence.
Philosophy – everybody can reach such a state. 200 percent concentrate on my life. And that time I choose for woodworking. I think if people can give time for their life 200 percetn they can notice the truth of things – not philosophy – philosophy s the result of this. Little by little I notice the truth of things.
Truth of things is very universal. I notice such a things – that already exists. Example – shape of natural beams – not artificial. – is truth. – I can feel aesthetic things – beams says – want to suporot – I want to use that support – beam the shape is the result for life themselves – very simple purpose has truth of things.
If you have someone you love – why you love – we are human and not things – this is a stupid question. We are such an animal we supporting each other. – this idea such thing is the truth of things. If people get this idea hemselves they enjoy.
Only one life – if we don’t enjoy this life – waste of life.
If I cannot be happy myself then how can I want other people to be happy? I have to give happiness to me. Then I give happiness to others.
So mnay Japanese people seem to be sacrificing themselves – seems like very beautifyl , very soulful , bvery peaceful –
Too much sacrifice is not peaceful. I hope they should use this time for themselves.
Before graduate university I sacrificed myself a lot. Very bad life. After graduating I became a carpenter – I can use that time for my life. I suggest people should use this time for themselves.
There is no such thing as sustainable as long as people continue to practice. For me wood is interesting thing to know. I don’t use wood as a sustainable material. For me wood is easy to process – light and strong – smell is interesting. Tree – 30 years – history of each tree – has shape of each tree.
People just say for fashion – “wood is sustainable”
After 10 years – wood rots, annoying maintenance – maybe stop .vs concrete.
Discover yourself. –at the end shape is same?
There is a big difference between “want to” and “must do” -for example passion of joinery vs not just tradition of joinery.
In Europe tradition means long term use. In Japan have to continue tradition.- but from whwat time in the past do we keep with tradition – tradition has always stopped time.
When we construct temple have to follow many rules. But such rules already very disfigured. Many people don’t understand meaning – only must use.
When / who decided such tradition or rule?
Tradition is very stupid.
It should be “I want to go” or “ I choose my favourtie shape” – ( need to understand this more)
seeking asnwers – everyone is seeking answers,. Example – we met for the film.
